NONitric Ni"tric, a. [Cf. F. nitrique. See Niter.] (Chem.)
Of, pertaining to, or containing, nitrogen; specifically,
designating any one of those compounds in which, as
contrasted with nitrous compounds, the element has a higher
valence; as, nitric oxide; nitric acid.
