Any palm tree having fan-shaped or radiate leaves; as the Cham[ae]rops humilis of Southern Europe; the species of Sabal and Thrinax in the West Indies, Florida, etc.; and especially the great talipot tree (Corypha umbraculifera) of Ceylon and Malaya.
