the Colchicum autumnale, or meadow saffron, as a white or
yellowish amorphous powder, with a harsh, bitter taste; --

Note: Preparations made from the poisonous bulbs and seeds,

autumnale (meadow saffron) are used as remedies for
gout and rheumatism.
