A large European scaraboid beetle (Geotrupes stercorarius),
which makes a droning noise while flying. The name is also
applied to allied American species, as the June bug. Called
also dorr, dorbeetle, or dorrbeetle, dorbug,
dorrfly, and buzzard clock.
