Red-tailed Red"-tailed` (-t?ld`), a. Having a red tail. Red-tailed hawk (Zo["o]l.), a large North American hawk (Buteo borealis). When adult its tail is chestnut red. Called also hen hawck, and red-tailed buzzard.
